An electric vehicle (EV) is a vehicle that is powered by an electric motor and battery, rather than a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) that runs on gasoline or diesel.

The principle of an EV is based on the conversion of electrical energy stored in the battery into mechanical energy that powers the electric motor. This process takes place in the vehicle's drivetrain, which consists of the electric motor, power inverter, and transmission.

When the driver presses the accelerator pedal, a signal is sent to the power inverter, which converts the direct current (DC) stored in the battery into alternating current (AC) that is sent to the electric motor. The electric motor then uses this AC power to rotate its shaft and generate torque, which is transmitted to the wheels through the transmission. This torque is what propels the vehicle forward.

EVs have several advantages over traditional ICE vehicles, such as: -They produce zero emissions while driving -They have instant torque that results in a smooth and quiet driving experience -They are more energy-efficient than ICE vehicles -They require less maintenance than ICE vehicles.

However, EV's have a limited driving range compared to the traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and need to be charged which can take hours and depend on the charging infrastructure.
